Blunder Check (Chess)
In chess, most people lose because they make a move that overlooks a risk that they just didn't see. This often results in unnecessarily losing their most powerful piece (the Queen).
In chess, you can minimize your blunder chances by doing a blunder check with every move:
- If I move, will my King be in danger?
- If I move, will my Queen be in danger?
- If I move, will my piece be in danger?
- Does the last move my opponent made create any threats?
This made me realize, using a blunder check in life is also handy...
Blunder Check (Life)
Utilize a blunder check throughout daily life:
- Whenever you pass a car - driving is our most dangerous regular activity. Turning your head to make sure you don't hit something can save you.
- Speed - The faster you go, the more likely for a severe accident
- Wear a seatbelt - While <10% of people do not wear seatbelts, they account for about 50% of all fatalities
- Run a red - Is it that important to beat the light?
- Wear a helmet - Protect your brain!
- So many more....
